Message: Sandra , it was great meeting you and your festival is the BEST! I go to lots of festivals and I haven't seen one so focused to dancing and dancer comfort. It was incredible and I've already made plans to be there next year and am telling everyone I know they should be there too! You, the volunteers, the bands, the venue, the city, the area are all incredible - thank you for making me feel so welcome and for providing a festival that is a dancer's dream! See you next year! Hi
Sandra, it was so nice to meet you & attend your wonderful Zydeco festival!
This was the most comfortable (dance lessons, bathrooms, food/drink, A/C, &
good dance floors!) festival that I've been to, and I've been to a lot of
them!... All in all, it was an EXCELLENT festival and you should be
very proud of yourself. - Jan DeCosmo

Sandra,
I
want to congratulate and thank you for the outstanding Zydeco Music Festival!
My wife Mary Ann and I thoroughly enjoyed the event on Saturday afternoon and
evening, and a bunch of our friends from around Birmingham were equally
impressed. We loved the band line-up and the facility was ideal for enjoying
the music while dancing. I know that the wood dance floor was appreciated by
lots of folks. Mary Ann commented that someone spent a lot of effort decorating
for this event, too. Naturally, it is very nice in the summer to have
air-conditioning, in addition to good food and drink nearby, and real rest
rooms.
I
feel certain that many of us would like to return next year if the festival
becomes an annual event. We had some friends who could not make it this time,
but wished they could have

wanted to extend my compliments to the Daphne Civic Center for organizing and
putting on a superb Zydeco dance festival. You had dancers from Birmingham,
Huntsville, Atlanta, Memphis, Arkansas, Mississippi and, of course,
Louisiana. In going to these festivals around the country, we, as
dancers, are seldom fortunate enough to get inside, air conditioned dance halls
with wooden dance floor and clean restrooms. The music lineup was excellent and
the food was authentic and delicious. Some of the best I've ever experienced at
a festival. What more can I say except "See ya next year".

Dear
Ms. Morse, Sorry to be so late, but I wanted you to know how much fun
I had at the Gulf Coast Zydeco festival! I was there Friday night-a family
emergency Saturday came up and I had to go to Georgia! We had another couple
from Montgomery with us who stayed for Saturday and they had a ball as well. I
hope this gets to be an annual event. As I am sure you have learned,
there is a 'community' of Cajun/zydeco dancers from all over the country. I saw
friends from Birmingham, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana-one of the Zydeco
Posse was from Arizona! That has got to be good for Daphne to bring people to
the area for such a positive experience. Here's hoping you will do it
again next year! Please call on me to help 'spread the word' in the dance
community if you do it again. Sonny Barksdale Bama Backdoor

Hi:
First, I want to say thank you for the fine job you and your staff did in
bringing this event to your facility. The set-up of the rooms was great and the
line up of bands was fantastic. As a dancer, I really appreciate the wooden
dance floor. I hope the donations for drinks worked out well; it was another
feature that really made us feel welcome and we tried to contribute in an
appropriate way. I am from Birmingham and I'm estimating that we had a group of
at least 30 dancers there. I didn't hear anything negative from any of
them. As far as suggestions for next year(and I hope that you do this
again next year), if you can release the line up of bands and their tentative
schedule a little earlier, I believe you can attract dancers from all across
the country. Having attended festivals from California to Fort Lauderdale, I
can tell you we have a devoted Zydeco dance group who will go anywhere to
dance!! But they do tend to plan ahead, so the more lead time you can give, the
better. You have a great facility, friendly staff, and a "destination"
location close to the beach. I hope you will continue to build this festival
and invite us dancers to come again. Thanks, Janet Keasler
